Jazz Guitar Fakebook: Soloing Vol. 5

About this course

In volumes 1 , 2, 3 of the Soloing editions of Frank Vignola’s Jazz Guitar Fakebook you learned how to solo over the first 30 jazz standard progressions featured in the 1st Rhythm Edition of Frank Vignola’s Jazz Fakebook. In the 4th volume, you learned how to solo over the first 10 jazz standard progressions featured in the 2nd Rhythm Edition of Frank Vignola’s Jazz Fakebook.
Here in Volume 5, you'll learn how to solo over the 2nd set of 10 jazz standard progressions featured in Volume 2 of Frank’s Rhythm Fakebook — the same jazz chord progressions found in: Honeysuckle Rose, I Can't Give You Anything But Love, Jersey Bounce, Lil Darlin, Loverman, Misty, Moonglow, Perdido, Pick Yourself Up and Polka Dots and Moonbeams.

”For each of these classic 10 jazz standard progressions, I’ll demonstrate and breakdown a simple melodic-based approach focused on chord tones and expression, an embellished approach adding chromatics and extensions, and then finally an advanced approach just like I would play myself on the bandstand.”

Frank will explain and demonstrate all of the key concepts and approaches along the way. You’ll get standard notation and tabs for all of the performance studies. Plus, you’ll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tools to sync the tab and notation to the video lesson. You can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace. All of the backing tracks are included to work with on your own as well.

Grab your guitar and let’s solo over 10 more classic jazz standards with Frank Vignola!

Jazz Guitar Fakebook: Soloing Vol. 5
Hi, I'm Frank Vignola and welcome to this fifth Soloing Edition of the Jazz Guitar Fakebook.

The best way to learn how to play jazz is to learn how to play songs, and learning songs starts with learning the accompaniment, which we focused on in the Jazz Guitar Fakebook: Rhythm Edition where you learned the chords, rhythms, and comping approaches for jazz progressions in 30 of the most popular jazz standards.

In this edition of the Jazz Guitar Fakebook, you'll learn how to solo over the first ten jazz standards featured in the volume 3 of the Rhythm edition: "Honeysuckle Rose", "I Can't Give You Anything but Love", "Jersey Bounce", "Lil' Darlin'", "Loverman", "Misty", "Moonglow", "Perdido", "Pick Yourself Up", and "Polka Dots and Moonbeams"...

For each of these 10 jazz standards, I'll demonstrate and breakdown a simple melodic-based approach, a slightly more embellished approach, and then finally an advanced approach just like I would play myself on the bandstand.

All of the performances are transcribed and you’ll be able to sync the tab and notation to the video using TrueFire’s learning tools. All of the live-band backing tracks are included and you can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace.

Easy & Fun To Follow

I have to admit it, I’m a collector of this series: again 10 classic standards each with 3 easy accessible choruses of mostly melodic solos. And for each of them Frank takes a different approach or angle to keep things interesting. Everything is easy to follow and a lot of inspiration. Highly recommended!
