Jazz Guitar Fakebook: Soloing Vol. 2

About this course

In the first edition of the Jazz Guitar Fakebook, you learned how to solo over the first 10 jazz standard progressions featured in the Rhythm Edition of Jazz Fakebook where you learned the chords, rhythms, and comping approaches for the jazz progressions in 30 of the most popular jazz standards.

In this second edition of the Jazz Guitar Fake Book, you'll learn how to solo over the second 10 jazz standard progressions featured in the Rhythm edition — the same jazz chord progressions found in Early Autumn, Fly Me to the Moon, Girl from Ipanema, Groovin’ High, Have You Met Miss Jones, Here’s That Rainy Day, I’m Beginning to See the Light, I’m Confessin, In a Mellow Tone, and Back Home Again in Indiana.

”For each of these 10 jazz standards, I’ll demonstrate and breakdown a simple melodic-based approach focused on chord tones and expression, an embellished approach adding chromatics and extensions, and then finally an advanced approach just like I would play myself on the bandstand.”

Frank will explain and demonstrate all of the key concepts and approaches along the way. You’ll get standard notation and tabs for all of the performance studies. Plus, you’ll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tools to sync the tab and notation to the video lesson. You can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace. All of the backing tracks are included to work with on your own as well.

Grab your guitar and let’s solo over jazz standards with Frank Vignola!

Jazz Guitar Soloing Fakebook Vol. 2
Hi, I'm Frank Vignola and welcome to this second Soloing Edition of the Jazz Guitar Fakebook.

The best way to learn how to play jazz is to learn how to play songs, and learning songs starts with learning the accompaniment, which we focused on in the Jazz Fakebook: Rhythm Edition where you learned the chords, rhythms, and comping approaches for jazz progressions in 30 of the most popular jazz standards.

In this edition of the Jazz Guitar Fakebook, you'll learn how to solo over the second 10 jazz standards featured in the Rhythm edition: Early Autumn, Fly Me to the Moon, Girl from Ipanema, Groovin' High, Have You Met Miss Jones, Here's that Rainy Day, I'm Beginning to See the Light, I'm Confessin, In a Mellow Tone, and Back Home Again in Indiana.

For each of these 10 jazz standards, I'll demonstrate and breakdown a simple melodic-based approach focused on chord tones and expression, an embellished approach adding chromatics and extensions, and then finally an advanced approach just like I would play myself on the bandstand.

All of the performances are transcribed and you'll be able to sync the tab and notation to the video using TrueFire's learning tools. All of the live-band backing tracks are included, and you can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace.

frank's tunes

these courses are great. the teacher is superb, but. . why all fake tunes instead of the real tunes as they are standards and old anyway?

Jazz Guitar Fakebook Soloing Vol2

Frank Vignola continues his great series of jazz solos with Vol 2. I have started looking at his chord sequence numbers (125 etc) to better understand the progressions for each solo. Using mainly the basic chord sequence for a piece, and minimising the use of more difficult jazz chords is a big asset. Also the simpler intros are a big help in easily getting each solo started. Yours, John H
