We know each part since we’ve worked on it in the previous sections. So let’s talk about the dynamic of the entire song.
Into The Trees
Into The Trees - Overview is a video guitar lesson presented by Brooks Robertson and is sourced from Fingerstyle Survival Guide.

Into The Trees is a dynamic tune that will have you tapping your foot and bobbing your head, at least that is what I do when I play it! This is the title tune of my solo album Into The Trees, released in 2010. I wrote this song accidentally one spring morning sitting out on the deck. This is another good example of using a balance of concepts, techniques and the ear to come up with an interesting song. One of the most important elements that went into writing this song was allowing myself to experiment and try different things until I found what I liked the sound of. It utilizes some unique chord forms, fingernail clicks, the 1/2 step sliding concept with diminished 7th chord forms, banjo rolls, dynamics and decoration.

As you watch the performance video be sure again to pay attention to what each hand is doing individually and then how the left and right hands work together. Try and distinguish which concepts are being used where and when. Watch for chord forms and inversions, left and right hand dynamics, fingernail clicks and banjo rolls. You can also use this performance video as a practice tool to play along with or to hear particular phrasing and nuances throughout the song.

We are going to jump right into the melody without much of an intro. I encourage you to make up your own intro if you feel like it, totally up to you, the tune is in the key of D major for the most part. You might listen to my album version on my website for reference ideas. It’s important to be familiar enough with the melody and tune that you could hum it out loud. The main melody of the song uses chord melody type of playing which means nearly every melody note has a different chord accompanying it. This type of style gives the song a lot of movement. Strive for smoothness and cleanliness with transitioning from one chord form to the next. The melody is usually played at the top of the chord, on the higher treble strings. Take the first few chords to start with and slowly try playing them really emphasizing the melody, remembering to include the rhythmic click of the fingernails on beats 2 and 4 when possible.

Notice the use of the 1/2 step sliding technique, in this case using a diminished chord form. There are many variations that are possible with the 1/2 step sliding technique, this would be a good opportunity to experiment and see what you can come up with. The bridge will utilize some banjo rolls in combination with varying chord inversions and voicing. This is a great place to use your movable chord forms and any variations you come up with. You might try various banjo roll patterns or a combination of them in place of the ones I’ve demonstrated.
Lendemain De La Fete
Lendemain De La Fete - Performance is a video guitar lesson presented by Pierre Bensusan and is sourced from DADGAD Explorer: Guitar Intuite.

Let's keep on working on the right hand in conjunction with the left with an interpretation of my song "Lendermain De La Fete," which in English is "the day after the feast." I composed this in 1977 and is on my albums 2 and Encore.

The DADGAD tuning was an inspiration for this composition, as well as my attraction to medieval music. I've revisited this piece lately and changed the fingerings to sync with what I have learned since composing it, giving it more control with the bass notes. To achieve this, I'll be using the rest stroke technique commonly used with nylon strings.
