Modern Fingerstyle & Tunings (JamPlay)

About this course

If you find yourself stuck in standard tuning, playing the same chord shapes and scale patterns over and over, Yvette Young is here to help you break free. In Modern Fingerstyle & Tunings, Yvette invites you into her creative world—one where open tunings, intricate fingerstyle textures, and expressive two-handed tapping open the door to entirely new musical landscapes. This course is a masterclass in pushing boundaries, both technically and artistically.

Across 60+ immersive lessons, Yvette reveals how alternate tunings can unlock richer harmonies, how rhythmic and melodic phrasing can blend seamlessly through modern fingerstyle, and how to develop your own voice using techniques like tapping, polyphony, dynamic layering, and unconventional time signatures. She doesn’t just teach you riffs—she helps you understand the thought process behind creating them, showing you how to overcome writer’s block, tap into new textures, and approach songwriting from angles you may have never considered.

Whether you're learning one of her signature compositions like “Shibuya” or “Blossom,” or experimenting with your own ideas in DADF#AE tuning, you’ll gain the tools and inspiration to craft intricate, emotionally resonant music. From right-hand dexterity drills to tapping on acoustic, every technique in this course serves a greater purpose: empowering you to explore your instrument with intention and imagination.

This course is for guitarists who are ready to think differently, create fearlessly, and redefine what their guitar can do.

Amazing Course

I really enjoyed this TrueFire course—especially how well the finger exercises are structured. Each lesson builds progressively on the last, so you’re developing strength, accuracy, and speed in a very natural way without feeling rushed. It’s clear the course is designed to help you improve step by step, which makes practice feel focused and rewarding. A great choice for anyone looking to tighten up their technique and see real, steady progress.
