Introduction
To kick things off, we discuss the equipment and approaches used throughout the whole course. You’ll get acquainted with the types of plugins you will need to follow along with the lessons, as well as a brief overview of each song.
Rock I: General Setup and Drums
We preview our first song - a classic 80’s-style hard rock ballad with an epic solo. We listen through the elements, and then begin the mix with the drums.
Rock II: Bass
Moving on from the drums, we use an amp sim to get a killer, gritty rock bass tone.
Rock III: Rhythm Guitars
Now that the rhythm section is sounding tight, we move on to the rhythm guitar tracks.
Rock IV: Lead Guitar and Mastering
We polish off our rock track with polishing up the lead guitar solo, and finish the track off with basic mastering.
Country I: General Setup and Drums
We dive into our second track - a modern country song with a variety of interesting elements. After seeing what’s what, we get started with integrating the drums.
Country II: Bass
We go for a cleaner, punchier bass sound that will sit better in a complex mix, perfect for our modern country track.
