Without getting too bogged down in theory, in this course I will show you the 10 most useful scales and modes. I'll explain why they work over certain progressions, we'll discuss their tonal characteristics, and I'll demonstrate their application in an improvisational etude. Learning these 10 scales and modes will enable you to improvise over virtually any pop, rock, blues or even jazz chord progression. The focus in this course is on learning the scales, not licks - so while I will give you a lot of improvisational examples along the way, I really only want you to focus on the scales and exercises. This will help you to internalize these scales and use your own voice in creating licks and lines of your own for your solos and improvisation. Let's go ahead and dig in.
Section 1: Minor Pentatonic
In this first section, we'll take a look at the first scale I ever learned, and one of the most useful scales available to us for improvisation - The Minor Pentatonic Scale. This five note scale may already be a go-to for you, but learning all of the positions of it will make it pay massive dividends to your soloing in almost any style of music. This section gives you a systematic approach to learning it all over the neck. Let's jump in.
Two Octave Basic
Let's start with the basic two octave position that many of you may already be familiar with. If you aren't yet familiar, you should take your time here and put in a considerable amount of effort to play this scale slow and clean before you move on to any of the other positions.
Across the Fretboard
Now let's look at all six positions of the scale from the bottom to the top of the neck. It is extremely important that you take your time with this lesson. Learning your scales up and down the neck is one of the keys to the improvisational kingdom. Take your time and work it slowly until you can play the entire neck with ease.
Six String Horizontal
Let's look at this scale a little bit differently. Now, we're going to learn the scale horizontally, one string at a time. Doing this over and over will help you to build more fluidity into your positional improvisations and helps you to integrate this scale into more melodic and expressive lines. Take your time and nail this in the key we're focused on here, and then ultimately you want to try it in other keys as well.
Pentatonic Connecting Licks: 1
Here, I'll show you two licks that will help you connect the positions of your minor pentatonic scale. Licks like these are a great way to spend your practice time. This is just an example of how you can bridge the positions of your scales with musical sounding lines - you should come up with some of your own too. It's a fun and easy way to spend practice time, and at the same time, be building your bag of licks you can use to span the fretboard.

You must know how to teach modes…
Actually ,the point isn’t how to know or memorize modes, but understanding the difference inside a tonality: and that’s what this course teaches through ear training and relationship with chords progressions
