Triad Targets: Rhythm

About this course

Triads are the key to crafting a rhythm part that fits any musical setting without stepping on another player's part. Triads are also the key to playing rhythm parts all over the neck, in any key. Triads may be the simplest chords to learn and play, but they’re also one of the most valuable and versatile tools for a guitarist to have command of.

Ariel Posen’s Rhythm Edition of Triad Targets reveals how to take your rhythm playing to the next level with triad applications. Ariel organized the course into 6 Study Sets, covering a range of triad applications including voice leading, inversions, embellishments and connecting triads with ornamentations and lead lines. Each study set features song-centric jam tracks for musical context.

”Whatever style you play, learning triads and their inversions vastly expands the range of colors and texture you can contribute to any piece of music. In this course, we’ll work through six study sets to learn 24 essential major and minor triad shapes with root position, first and second inversions.

Each study focuses on a different string set or application for triads, and we’ll put each to work with familiar sounding song-centric jam tracks. You’ll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tools to practice and play along with me at your own pace, every step of the way.

We’ll start simply, attacking the major and minor triads up each string set in a single key, and then ultimately learn to transpose to other keys, mix and match inversions, craft more seamless rhythm parts using voice leading, embellish and connect triads with ornamentations and lead lines, and lots more.”

Ariel will explain and demonstrate all of the key concepts and approaches along the way. You’ll get standard notation and tabs for all of the performance studies. Plus, you’ll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tools to sync the tab and notation to the video lesson.

You can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace. All of the backing tracks are also included to work with on your own.

Triad Targets | Rhythm Edition
Hey this is Ariel Posen. Welcome to this Rhythm Edition of Triad Targets.

Triads may be the simplest chords to learn and play, but they're also one of the most valuable and versatile tools for a guitarist to have command of.

Guitarists spend the majority of their time playing rhythm and generally find themselves in a variety of music settings with other instruments. Triads are the key to crafting a rhythm part that fits the setting without stepping on another player's part.

Triads are also the key to playing rhythm parts all over the neck, in any key. Whatever style you play, learning triads and their inversions vastly expands the range of colors and texture you can contribute to any piece of music.

At first it’s like learning a new language.

To be honest, I play more then 10 years casually on an electric guitar and know a little about music theory. The numbering system is like learning a new language for me, because I haven’t learned that stuff when I had guitar lessons, I only know how to memorise patterns, that’s why I felt a little stuck. Learning triads opened my eyes for new possibilities and getting more creative playing up and down the neck.

It's good stuff . .

At first I was a little skeptical. But I soon realized he just dives right on no bs. This is a good course if you already have a basic knowledge of triad shapes. Ariel don't mess around, he shows you how to use triads. Im satisfied with this course. Peace.
