Triad Targets: Rhythm

Hey this is Ariel Posen. Welcome to this Rhythm Edition of Triad Targets.

Triads may be the simplest chords to learn and play, but they're also one of the most valuable and versatile tools for a guitarist to have command of.

Guitarists spend the majority of their time playing rhythm and generally find themselves in a variety of music settings with other instruments. Triads are the key to crafting a rhythm part that fits the setting without stepping on another player's part.

Triads are also the key to playing rhythm parts all over the neck, in any key. Whatever style you play, learning triads and their inversions vastly expands the range of colors and texture you can contribute to any piece of music.

In this course, we'll work through six study sets to learn 24 essential major and minor triad shapes with root position, first and second inversions.

Each study focuses on a different string set or application for triads, and we'll put each to work with familiar sounding song-centric jam tracks. You'll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tools to practice and play along with me at your own pace, every step of the way.

We'll start simply, attacking the major and minor triads up each string set in a single key, and then ultimately learn to transpose to other keys, mix and match inversions, craft more seamless rhythm parts using voice leading, embellish and connect triads with ornamentations and lead lines, and lots more.
