Raising Sand
Lesson Source: Anthony Stauffer's 50 Monster SRV Licks

For this lick we're going to play in Box 1 at the very bottom of the neck. We're playing in the open position so our muscle memory from Box 1 at the 12th fret won't help us here. Your index finger will be mostly useless here. Notice how a lick played in this position has a great ringing tone because of the open strings.
Outlaws Country Style - 1
Lesson Source: Will Sophie's 50 Southern Rock Licks

The 1970's Outlaws sound was primarily based on country music. Over the years it changed to a more heavy kinda rock sound. In this early period, guitar players Jones & Thomason formed an outstanding and unique couple of dueling guitar hero's. The squeaky bite of Thomasons Strat, verses the more rocky Les Paul sound of Billy Jones were more or less the Outlaws trademark. In this up tempo I-IV, I-V chord structure in the key of A, we're gonna play some melodic lines, fitting the major chords used. Lick 27 is very traditional Outlaws style.
Beale St
Lesson Source: James Hogan's 50 All-Purpose Pentatonic Licks

B.B. King is blues royalty! His trademark playing, singing and performing style has enabled him to reach audiences all around the globe. As one of the “3 Kings Of the Blues” along with Albert King & Freddie King, B.B. defined his voice early on the instrument. His style is so recognizable, most blues fans can pick him out by just hearing one note! Thousands of guitarists and fans travel to hear/see B.B. play his trusty “Lucille” every year. His influence on blues music and popular culture cannot be overstated. Lick #28 “Beale St” is a classic B.B. King lick in Position III of A Major pentatonic. This pentatonic position is often referred to as the B.B. King blues box! Needless to say, B.B. spends a lot of time in this position.

What The Funk?
Lesson Source: Jay Williams's 50 Soul Guitar Licks

Lick number 14 is an example of a repeated blues lick on top of one chord in a funky style. It uses double stops, slides and hammer-ons. It’s similar to the song ‘Funky Broadway’ by Wilson Picket, with Jimmy Johnson playing the guitar part. He was member of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. He has credits on many well known soul songs like Sweet Soul Music, Land of a 1000 Dances, Mustang Sally, When a man loves a woman , etc. He also performed with Wilson Picket and Aretha Franklin.
Carlton's Triads
Lesson Source: Gil Parris's 50 Smooth Jazz Licks

This lick contains Carlton's wonderful chord on chord approach to improvising.
Go Tell It On The Variation
Lesson Source: Pete Huttlinger's 50 Fingerpicking Licks

A variation of the preceding lick but with a more bluesy ending.
NOLA
Lesson Source: Stu Hamm's 50 Pro Bass Grooves

Here is a blues with a little more grease on it. Carl and Bernie are the perfect pair to lay down this groove, and I think that you will particularly enjoy playing along with Bernie's authentic second line groove. You'll notice that this blues is stripped down harmonically, not going to the 4 chord in the second bar and hanging on the 5 for the turnaround. You really need to put the feel in your back pocket, and the further back in the beat you can play without actually slowing down or bogging the feel, the funkier it will sound.
