Sonny Landreth

Sonny Landreth is known as "the King of Slydeco" and plays with a strong zydeco influence. Guitarist Eric Clapton has said that Landreth is one of the most advanced guitarists in the world and one of the most under-appreciated. Landreth is best known for his slide guitar playing, having developed a technique where he also frets notes and plays chords and chord fragments by fretting behind the slide while he plays. Landreth plays with the slide on his little finger, so that his other fingers have more room to fret behind the slide. He's also known for his right-hand technique, which involves tapping, slapping, and picking strings, using all of the fingers on his right hand. He wears a special thumb pick/flat pick hybrid on his thumb so he can bear down on a pick while simultaneously using his finger style technique for slide.

The Master of Slide Guitar

Sonny is truly a master in the domain of guitar and slide. A spectacular guitarist who possesses a creativity and dynamism in each of his performances that ends up inspiring you and motivates you to continue learning. His handling of the instrument is admirable and he achieves a style of his own that is difficult to replicate. In addition to all of the above, he is a very good teacher, he understands perfectly what he does, he teaches you innovative concepts and tips to apply to your guitar playing, making him one of the best without a doubt.

Sonny Landreth a true Slide Supernatural

A fantastic guitarist with experience and great musical skills. The way he creates melodies is amazing, he has a great influence of classic Rock sounds, in fact he has developed an excellent technique with the slide making his style characteristic and worthy of admiration, that with the feeling that his songs have, makes them end up being quite enjoyable. If you want to do Blues-Rock with slide techniques, this is the right place to search because Sonny Landreth is a master that you have to learn those techniques and key concepts, his intrutions are fun and understandable at all times, which makes you want to keep learning.

Slide Blues

Sonny Landreth's "Slide Supernatural Blues" is a great course in superb slideplaying. Smooth and silky I would describe his slide playing. An excellent guitarist showing us how it should be done. I could listen to this guy all day. Probably one of the best slide teachers and slide players at TruFire, and I have to admit, TruFire has some five star teachers and guitar players.

Amazing

As a Music Producer it was very important for me to focus on my guitar playing and develop my own sound. A few months ago I came across Mr. Sonny Landreths lessons on the Truefire YouTubechannel and I decided to take my Blues playing seriously to explore more. It helped me analyse the song, build different styles of grooves, incorporate different techniques, which was really helpful. Also his original music is amazing, do check it out. The lessons were really easy to follow, precise articulate and most importantly engaging. Hoping to see more lessons on truefire!

Sonny Landreth

I was browsing through the educators and found Sonny Landreth. I've been learning to play slide guitar, especially in open G, and boom! Sonny's got it. His playing is superb and I certainly learned a few things I had no idea about. The tabs were a big help too. The guy certainly knows his stuff. If Eric Clapton recommends him I do too.
