About this course

Welcome to Guitar Lab: Rhythm Guitar Studies Vol. 1.

This group of lessons will present various rhythmic and harmonic options for playing over a 12 bar blues shuffle.

You will learn how to apply a horn section approach which leaves space for other instruments in the ensemble.

Two bar phrases will be applied to measures one through eight with specific rhythmic motifs.

This will increase your ability to create rhythmic interest as well as controlling the chordal density.

There will also be lessons on extending the basic 7th chord with harmonic extensions.

The final concept of diatonic harmony built off the parent scale will be used as a source for triadic fills.

This allows for the visualization of 6ths and 3rds.

Grab your guitar and let's get started!

What you'll learn

  • Apply extended chords (9ths, 13ths) appropriately in blues context
  • Execute Texas upbeat shuffle rhythm with palm slaps
  • Use diatonic triads over dominant bass for sophisticated comping

Simply amazing

This is the perfect extension for Vol.1 (which is the best ROI for a blues 145 rhythm course in the the TrueFire collection in my view).🌻 So much info in 90 minutes !

Excellent course ...

Everything is clearly explained and demoed, making it very easy to follow. I can recommend this course to anyone who's looking to improve their blues rythym skills and take them to a new level. All the courses I've tried are of the same high quality; worth every penny.

A worthy sequel

Brad provides 20 lessons to expand on the concepts from Volume 1. The focus is on adding some variety to your rhythm playing while keeping good time and allowing space for the rest of the band. The only addition that would have been nice would be providing the jam track in additional keys for expanded practice. Can't wait for the next volume.
