In Frank Vignola’s Jazz Blues edition of Trading Solos, you’ll comp and then also trade solos with Frank over five jazz blues backing tracks featuring progressions commonly encountered on the gig or in the jam. The progressions range over a variety of keys, tempos, and feels.

Frank begins the course with a few tone tips to help you get an authentic jazz blues sound. For each of the five jazz blues backing tracks, Frank will show you a handful of licks and comping approaches that you can use over the tracks as you trade solos with him. Then, you'll take turns applying those ideas, trading solos and comping for each other.
Frank will explain and demonstrate all of the key concepts and approaches along the way. You’ll get standard notation and tabs for all of the key examples and performances. Plus, you’ll be able to use TrueFire’s learning tool to sync the tab and notation to the video and can also loop or slow down the videos so that you can work with the lessons at your own pace. All the backing tracks are included to work with on your own as well.

In this edition of Trading Solos, we'll jam together over five jazz blues grooves in a variety of keys and feels. I'll start by sharing some tone tips and approaches to help you get a great sound. And then for each of the five grooves, I'll show you a handful of moves and comping approaches that we can both use.
We'll then take turns applying those ideas, trading solos, and comping for each other over the backing tracks.

Jazz Blues Style Tips
Here are some tips on producing good tone and some of the gear that I use for performing and the studio.
Track 1: All Bluesy
The first track that we'll solo over is a 12 measure blues progression which is similar to the classic "All Blues". It's in the key of G major and in 6/8 timing.
Track 1: All Bluesy
In this segment, I discuss 3 comping techniques: using double stops, using a descending counter line with chords and using a common rhythm pattern.

In this segment, I discuss 3 lick ideas that can be used over this classic progression. The first is what to play over a sharp 9 chord, and the second lick is based on the suspended or 4th. The third lick idea is targeting the G note on the last G chord of the progression.

Very good play along selection
The big plus of this course are the selection of the (play along) tunes as well as the very helpful (short) soloing and comping ideas. Frank Vignola knows his chops. However, his teaching style can be improved to be more dynamic and faster.

Much More Than Expected
I love his Jazz/Blues selections best like Blues for All, Bebop Blues and Duke's jam in C but its all excellent! Highly recommend for all to read more about. Frank just can't disappoint!! TrueFire courses, and this one's no exception, have a LOT of tunes here, ly named to help you identifying the underlying songs. Frank goes through multiple chorus of each song, expanding and getting slightly more complex each time through. Everything is accessible and well explained. If you are learning form, then work through these and up your game
