Jesús Hernández About the Educator

Jesús Hernández loves the simple subtlety of the Cuban music on the guitar and making simple music more interesting by using harmony and Cuban syncopation in a creative way.

After studying guitar and graduating from the National Art School in Havana and Conservatory Ignacio Cervantes studied harmony applied to the guitar with teacher Vicente Gonzalez Rubiera "Guyun" and Orchestration with Armando Romeu, he is a acclaimed musician, vocalist, songwriter and arranger.

In Cuba and in Europe he has toured with great artists like Maira Caridad Valdes, Ibrahim Sagarra, Pio Leyva, Pedro Lugo "El Nene", Luis Frank, Rafael Rodriguez among others, and playing Cuban music with different bands, in Cuba he had his own instrumental vocal sextet "Agua Viva" and his band "Caribe".

In 1993 he went to The Netherlands where he worked as Music ensemble docent at the Rotterdam’s Conservatory until 1998 while giving clinics at some conservatories and touring in Europe with different bands like "Conexion Latina", as a leader has toured with his own Groups "Concepto D" and Delia y su Tumbao having fun in different festivals and concert places. He has recorded his own albums "Comunicando" (2008) and "Trascendental" (2014) and as guest musician/arranger participated and collaborated with different CD’s of other bands, other of his passions is writing for popular orchestras and also for acapella music.
