Jam Track #1
A thorough understanding of the rhythmic characteristics that exist in Latin music are critical because the groove is of utmost importance. We'll begin with jam track number one which supports a D minor chord. Chart number one shows a typical rendering of what you would encounter in a session. As you can see, the rhythmic slashes in each measure indicate that you are to play rhythm for all four beats. What they don't show you is the exact rhythm; that's up to you to interpret what would be appropriate.Chart number two shows the basic straight eighth note groove which is present in this music.
