She Got the Best of Me by Luke Combs
Hey, it's Matthew Lee here and we're covering the Luke Combs song, She's Got the Best of Me.

As far as a guitar playing standpoint, we're going to be doing some cool strumming patterns to really lock in with the drums and bass. We're going to be using a capo. There's only four chords in the song, and I also have parts if you're just a beginner, so we'll have a nice, easy strum pattern to get you all the way through the song in several different ways, and I'm going to kind of break it down as far as which guitar does what.

There's some texture parts, there's a call and response in the beginning and the turnaround, and then there's a nice little solo.

So grab your guitar, let's go, and let's do our new cover song, She's Got the Best of Me.

This is a reference video covering all of the guitar parts you will learn in this lesson for "She Got the Best of Me" by Luke Combs.
Easy Guitar
Let's break down the essential elements of this tune, which is in the key of B. To simplify the chords, use a capo on the 4th fret. We'll focus on basic "cowboy chords" with a few easy transitions. The primary chord progression is C - G - Em - D (sounding like F# due to the capo). Emphasize a slight rhythmic "push" into each chord change for a dynamic feel. Initially, use simple downstrokes to master the chord changes.

The intro sets the foundation for the entire song. In the verses, we'll start with split chords (two per measure) before building into the chorus with bigger, bolder chords. During the solo section, you'll hold down foundational chords, and there's a quieter breakdown before the final chorus. Remember, utilize the tools available on TrueFire, like Tabsync and the ability to slow down the lesson. This allows you to learn at your own pace and really nail those rhythmic transitions. Let's play it through with the band!

Acoustic Guitar
This lesson teaches the acoustic part from "She's Got the Best of Me". We'll use a capo on the 4th fret for open-voiced chords, like a C add 9 for quick transitions. You'll also need to know an E minor shape. Focus on a rhythmic strumming pattern that divides the beat– think a more detailed "diamond" strum. We'll adjust the strumming and emphasize lower strings for a softer feel in the verses. Pay attention to little details like hammer-ons to add rhythmic texture.

As the song builds into the chorus, the strum gets bigger. You'll use the same basic chord sequence with slight variations at the end. We'll cover a solo section where you hold down some foundational chords with specific rhythmic hits. Remember to use TrueFire's tools, like Tabsync and the ability to slow down the lesson, to nail those details and transitions at your own pace. Let's get started!
