Open Mind
Open Mind - Lick 4 is a video guitar lesson presented by Corey Congilio and is sourced from 30 Beginner Blues Guitar Licks You MUST Know.

When I was starting my blues guitar playing journey, the key of E always intrigued me because I could really utilize open strings. I thought that "Open Mind" could indeed open your mind to some open string licks. You're going to use the heck out of open strings when you're in the key of E, so why not start here!
Upstairs, Downstairs
Upstairs, Downstairs - Lick 2 is a video guitar lesson presented by Robbie Laws and is sourced from 30 Penta Sonic Blues Licks You MUST Know.

A minor pentatonic box pattern #4.
You'll begin this lick with an ascending line, then quickly descend using a 1st position A minor arpeggio, followed by a pull-off and slide combination on the D string, finishing off at the open G string, which gives us the dominant 7th. Back down we go to the D string with a pull-off on the 1st fret to the open D. Hitting the A string with a 3rd, fret bend and finish on the open A string (home base).
Open Position Slider
Open Position Slider - Lick 11 is a video guitar lesson presented by Andy Aledort and is sourced from 30 Beginner Slide Blues Guitar Licks You MUST Know.

Thus far, all of our licks have been initiated in 12th position. For example, in licks 7 and 8 we simply moved a 12th position lick down to a lower position to accommodate the iv and V chords. This lick gives us an opportunity to explore the use of the open strings in a slide lick, played over the I chord, E. There are some specific technical challenges to executing a slide lick so low on the fretboard as the action of the strings is much lower. You'll need to be sure to apply just enough pressure to sound the notes without touching the frets. Also, there is a pull-off sounded on the B string, so simply lift the slide off the string after it is picked to sound the open B without striking the string again.
Old School
Old School - Lick 24 is a video guitar lesson presented by David Hamburger and is sourced from 30 Beginner Fingerstyle Blues Licks You MUST Know.

Now we've got a secondary dominant, or "extra V chord" on a turnaround in the key of E. The F# would be the V in the key of B, and of course B7 is the V in the key of E. Combining these two chords gives us a cool-sounding turnaround that resolves strongly to E while totally bypassing the usual A7 chord you'd expect to find here.
B.B.'s Box
B.B.'s Box - Lick 3 is a video guitar lesson presented by Jeff McErlain and is sourced from 50 Blues Guitar Licks You MUST Know.

Here is lick that BB has made his signature. A simple A major pentatonic lick is what is often referred to as BB's box due to his extensive use of the position. Slides, bends to the major third, and classic phrasing make this lick essential. Check out BB's live at the Regal for the man at his best.
A Little Grace
A Little Grace - Lick 18 is a video guitar lesson presented by Corey Congilio and is sourced from 30 Beginner Blues Guitar Licks You MUST Know.

Here we have a lick that may seem uncommon, but the grace note idea is one that you'll hear subtly in blues playing. Listen to the song "Leave My Little Girl Alone" by either Buddy Guy or Stevie Ray Vaughan and you'll get the idea. We're in the key of A here and we're targeting the root. Go for it!
Love For All
Love For All - Groove 9 is a video guitar lesson presented by Jeff McErlain and is sourced from 30 Authentic Blues Grooves You MUST Know.

The original version of "All You Love" was recorded by Otis Rush and is a must know track. My first exposure to this tune was on the legendary John Mayall's Bluesbreakers record featuring Eric Clapton. The record is required listening for any guitar player as it is the blueprint for the British blues. Often referred to as the Beano record due to the comic Clapton is reading on the cover. The record is the hallmark of the modern rock guitar sound and is considered to be one of the the holy grails of tone. A Les Paul through an early Marshall JTM45 2x12 combo cranked, yup that is rock and roll my friends. Personally, I wish he never picked up a Strat - please no hate mail - just listen to this record before you judge me!
