The educators demonstrate all of the key examples over jam tracks (where and when applicable) to simulate a real-world application, in a musical context. All of the key examples are also tabbed and notated for your practice, reference and study purposes.

You’ll also get Guitar Pro files so that you can play, loop or slow down the tab and notation as you work through the lessons. Plus, you’ll have all of the available jam tracks to work with on your own.

Concepts and Insight
In this section you will work on comping principles, look at guide tones, and dig into motivic development. These concepts will take you deeper into rhythmic possibilities.

TIP! Being a good rhythm guitarist starts with having a good sense of timing and being able to play in the pocket. But once you have a good handle on that, then you need to expand your options - both rhythmically and harmonically.

A great way to do this is by listening to other players who are great rhythm guitarists. Hear how they apply different variations and make note of what their choices are.

It helps to break your rhythm practice into those two areas - work on rhythm variations and different feels and grooves. Then work on using other harmonic options, different chord inversions and voicings. If you systematically experiment with testing out other options you will naturally gravitate towards the ones that are YOUR style, and you can further develop those, and then you will become that hip rhythm player that other people listen to!
Meet Your New Best Friends of the Jam: Guide Tones
Meet Your New Best Friends of the Jam: Guide Tones - Introduction is a video guitar lesson presented by Jeff Scheetz and is sourced from Blues Jam Survival Guide.

Guide tones are basically the 3rd and the 7th of the scale. That is because those are the most important notes of a chord, and will tell you what family the chord is from - Major, minor, or Dominant. So by just playing those two notes, you get a lot of information about the chord!
Guide Tones - Part 2
Guide Tones - Part 2 - Overview is a video guitar lesson presented by Jeff Scheetz and is sourced from Blues Jam Survival Guide.

The real beauty of the guide tone theory is simplicity. If you play the 3rd and the flat 7th of any chord as your 1 chord, and move it down one fret, that is your 4 chord - then move it up above the 1 chord by one fret - that is your 5 chord. So it works like that all over the neck! And can really make for a nice addition to just banging out the full barre chords all of the time.
Guide Tones - Part 3
Guide Tones - Part 3 - Performance is a video guitar lesson presented by Jeff Scheetz and is sourced from Blues Jam Survival Guide.

You will hear a lot of "guide tone" sounding parts where there are horns. Many times a horn part will be a couple of horns playing "harmony" with one playing the 3rd and one the 7th - works great for those type of "stabs" in there because they don't conflict with the root, and they help to define the chord quality.
Comping In G
Comping In G - Overview is a video guitar lesson presented by Andy Timmons and is sourced from Electric Expression: Blues.

In this first performance study we'll be comping in the key of G. We're going to focus on outlining the harmony as well as providing support for potential soloists and singers. I'll implement some of the double stops that we looked at in the first section.
