Western Swing And The Roots Of Country For the Thinking Guitarist

DJ Philips briefly covers off technique and the history of Country Music but the real value is the outstanding material supplied and the down to earth discussion. I'm an older intermediate reading player and I've always been on the lookout for a thorough transcription of Leon Rhodes "Honey Fingers" (as seen on You Tube along with other great Texas Troubadour videos). Amongst other excellent material this course provides notated transcriptions of the lead, rhythm and solo to "Honey Fingers", plus DJ painstakingly explains the structure and plays through it at various tempos. This is solid gold-- a mysterious and desirable bop/jazz classic is now within reach. The same approach is used by DJ with the music of other seminal artist's, for example Jimmy Bryant, and likewise the great track Guitar Boogie by Arthur Smith. DJ also discusses and expands on the structure of the material covered and suggests how the ideas used by these great players can be used in your own playing. This course is outstanding value.
