About this course

Cherrypicked from JamPlay, our sister TrueFire Studios’ company, Michael Palmisano’s top-ranked curriculum of video guitar lessons, Jam Band Toolkit has been upgraded with all of TrueFire’s advanced learning tools for the optimal “anytime, anywhere, any device” learning experience. Now available for download and streaming!

” The Jam Band genre has become the center of extended improv and
creativity for guitarists. Over the last 50 years, we’ve enjoyed countless
innovative long-form guitar solos from The Grateful Dead, The Allman
Brothers Band, Phish, and many other top artists and bands.

You may ask yourself - how do I get my playing to that place? Knowing a
bunch of scales and arpeggio exercises doesn't always cut it in this genre.
Learning to create melodies is key to keeping your extended solos interesting.

I’ve designed this course to pass on many subtle, yet effective techniques for creating melodies to build your solos around.

This Jam Band Toolkit focuses on using chord tones to create melodic
phrases and motifs. Michael kicks off the course with a review of some music theory and chord theory basics and then shows you how to visualize chord tones quickly and easily. You’ll learn to use these chord tones as the building blocks for your melodic ideas, which you’ll then use to craft your very own long-form solos.

As you play your way through the course, Michael will explain and demonstrate all of the Jam Band concepts and approaches required to hold your own in any Jam Band setting!

JamPlay’s lessons feature multiple viewing angles and you’ll have all of TrueFire’s advanced learning tools at your fingertips to personalize your workspace and learn at your own pace.

You can loop, slow down, or speed up any lesson section. Plus, all of the tabs and notation are synced to the videos for the optimal learning experience. You’ll also get the tab and standard notation files to print out, Guitar Pro files, and all of the backing tracks to practice with.

Grab your guitar, and let’s jam with Michael Palmisano!

Great Tookit!

I wasn't familiar with Michael Palmisano, but his Jam Band Toolkit is a great refresher for getting back to jamming post-Covid (yes, I'm rusty, and some of you are, too). Michael is a great player, very congenial, and his emphasis on melody is great.
