Excellent In The Jam and insight into a Modern Blues master
Excellent In The Jam course and insight into a Modern Blues master Personally for me Josh is one of the greatest modern improvisers around. He is a musical force combining brute force passion with incredible technical facility. He wearshis influences on his sleeve and it’s clear to hear when he blows over a track. A combination of Country, Jazz, Soul and R&B but always through a Bluelense. What you get here is 10 tracks that cover a nice range of styles fromstraight up Blues, minor blues shuffles, a killer motown groove and a tasty ‘LaGrange’ style ZZ Top Jam. It’s all Soundslice enabled so everything is very easyto follow. Personally for me this course shines in the rhythm guitar side ofthings ( I don’t usually like splitting guitar playing into lead and rhythm for me they are the same thing, but for the purposes of the review I’ll do so) Josh’s rhythm playing is second to none, with his influence from Cropper and Dupree on steroids. Even if you were to study 3 of the tracks rhythm playing you would become an overall well rounded better player but to have 10 flawless tracks is incredible. What you’ll notice is Josh switches things up after each chorus sosometimes within one track you might find 3 or 4 different approaches. So muhc to dig into here. This course is one I'll keep coming back to my entire guitar playing life, its full of gems a must have for me.
