Runaway | Overview
"Runaway" was released in the winter of 1984. The song gained little traction until it was submitted to a "Best Unsigned Band" contest hosted by a New York radio station. After winning the competition the song was placed into regular rotation and was quickly picked up nationally. This pre-Sambora track was actually recorded by session musicians that happened to be working in the same studio where John Bongiovi was working on material for his debut release. After the band's final lineup fell into place, the song became their first Billboard Top 40 hit and the springboard that made "Bon Jovi" a household name.
