Here in Guitar Gym there are two intense learning experiences. At the core of Guitar Gym is a focus on developing your technique, skills and overall chops through what I call "Workout Schedules." I will also devise lesson plans with style-specific theoretical, improvisational and/or performance enhancing studies based on my ten TrueFire courses in addition to your technique and chops development. To keep it all organized I will personalize your Workout Schedule-based practice regimens and style-specific lesson plans based on your current skills, your available practice time and your overall objectives.

For the intermediate to advanced player who wants to step up their technique and develop some wicked chops, this Workshop is just the ticket. Not only does this Workshop take students on a journey to help them combine the most popular and famous left and right hand techniques, but it does so by teaching some awesome licks, riffs and tunes that will be fun to play, and not just sound like "exercises".

Dave will teach students everything from Tarrega, Villa Vobos, and Albeniz (classical/flamenco styles), to Holdsworth, Howe, Satriani (fusion/rock styles) and more . The Workshop will include a ton of amazing left and right hand workouts. Right hand techniques will include tremolo, rasqueado, speed picking, sweeping, hybrid picking, single and double finger tapping with single lines and chord applications. Left hand techniques will include hammers from nowhere, liquefying legato, left hand arpeggios, finger rolling, endurance, and building power!

There are endless styles and guitar techniques associated with country guitar. This can be overwhelming. Where do you start? I have taken all the material from my 1-2-3 Country guitar course and arranged it into this interactive Workshop format. I will take you through rhythm and lead guitar approaches and go over various songs to get you playing all the parts!

Hello and welcome to Blues On Steroids! My name is Kelly Richey and I’ve been playing guitar for over 35 years. I’ve fronted my own band, The Kelly Richey Band since 1990. This class will help you break free of the pentatonic prison, blurring the lines between musical genres. We will explore key ingredients of jazz, blues, funk, fusion and rock with chord/rhythm studies, improvisation techniques, an examination of music theory/composition and embrace ways to think outside the box. I\'ll help you improve your chord vocabulary with hip chord voicings and spice up your improvisation skills by learning concepts such as outside playing, utilizing chord tones and creative ideas to use familiar scales in exciting new ways. Other facets of the classroom that we will dig into include unique applications of the melodic minor scale, arpeggio workouts, modal studies and a thorough examination of phrasing- the essential component to making your solos melodic and memorable.

What is flatpicking? We can loosely define \"flatpicking\" as a technique for playing the acoustic steel-stringed guitar with a flat pick.

Well work together to build up your skills and repertoire. Well dig into back up, carter style, fiddle tunes, crosspicking, floating, scales, licks.

Im not a big fan of exercises, I prefer to learn how to play songs, and this is exactly what well do. Knowing tunes is the the best way to learn new ideas, new licks, new fingerings, new scale positions, new chords, new strumming patterns.

Most importantly, I\'ll be guiding you through all of the material every step of the way!

This Workshop offers you essential grooves, and should benefit your over all musicality no matter what level of player you are. You will get 3 grooves a week in 7 different styles of music and a Final so that I can check on your progress. You will get weekly personal updates from me as I review your homework submissions and give my advice and critique on your performances. You will also get to groove to your hearts content to rhythm tracks laid down by groove masters Carl Verheyen on guitar (one of LA’s top session men and Supertramp superstar) and Bernie Dressel (Brian Setzer’s Big Band, top LA session drummer also featured in the movie “Jersey Boys). In this Workshop I have selected licks across a wide musical landscape that will prepare you to have the musical diversity you will need as a working bassist. I hope that some of these grooves will expose you to types of music that you may not have been aware of, and that they inspire you to dig deeper into the styles that interest you, and with my guidance and feedback you should be off and running in no time!
