Everyday I'm Shufflin'
Lesson Source: Corey Congilio's 50 Blues Rhythms

This is a great shuffle that incorporates some 3rds and 7ths riffs. I think this is a great example of what I spoke about in the previous text. I’m creating melodies with riffs and creating interesting guitar parts with everything we’ve learned so far.

That's not only learning but, applying! Weaving in and out of riffs, 7ths and 9ths etc. really spruce things up. Let’s keep builiding!
Straight Flush

Control Freak
Lesson Source: Oz Noy's Essentials: Funk Rhythm Guitar

Now let's look at a track called "Control Freak," based on a song by Prince called "Head." The groove is a straightforward funk rhythm in Am with two guitar parts. We'll go over how to get funky sounds by playing with the volume knob of the guitar.

Now I'll perform "Control Freak" for you over a rhythm track. The rhythm track and chart are attached to this video so that after you've watched the performance you can work with them on your own. Next, we'll break down my approach to this piece section by section.
Control Freak
Lesson Source: Oz Noy's Essentials: Funk Rhythm Guitar

"Control Freak" is in Am with two guitar parts, inspired by Prince's song "Head." The background guitar part moves around the Am pentatonic in 4ths, filling in the holes between the drums, bass, and other guitar part. For the main part, we'll play around the hits of the first guitar part focusing on the rhythm of the song. Again, keep in the pocket with your right hand moving up and down.
