Angels We Have Heard on High
Let's kick things off with Trevor's take on the Christmas classic, 'Angels We Have Heard on High'. Originating melodically from the French hymn 'Gloria', this popular caroling favorite is lyrically inspired by the traditional French carol 'Les Anges Dans Nos Campagnes', which translates as 'The Angels in our Countryside'. The current English version was written by Roman Catholic Priest, James Chadwick in 1862.

O' Christmas Tree
Next on our list of Trevor's fingerstyle Christmas classics is "O Christmas Tree", or as it's called in its native German - "O Tannenbaum". Not originally associated with Christmas, rather the faithfulness and constancy of the lush green Tannenbaum Fir tree, the current version originated in melody from a 16th-century folk song before the first version of the modern lyric was added by organist, teacher, and composer Ernst Anshcuts in 1824.

Worth it just for the gorgeous "Silent Night" fingerstyle solo arrangement!

It's a shame that there are free samples for all of the songs except "Silent Night. " For my tastes, that is by far the standout arrangement here. You can find the performance video of it on YouTube (on the JamPlay chanel). Whereas the other songs are presented as pieces to play with other instruments in a backing track (though they can work as solos), "Silent Night" is a solo fingerstyle arrangement (incidentally, on electric guitar, but fine for acoustic), and in a more jazz and new-age influenced style, with more advanced reharmonizations than the other tracks. The price of the whole course is worth it just for this lovely arrangement.

Almost perfect

The song's selection is excellent. The tutorials are extensive and well presented. The only thing missing is the interactive sore/tab that I am used with other Truefire products. However, we can use the GPX format download and use the Guitar pro App to play along.

Fingerstyle Favorites: 5 Classic Christmas Songs

This is a very fine course! All five songs were my personal Christmas favorites. I really enjoyed the splendid performances and the detailed breakdowns of each selection and the ability to see all the different angles available. I only wish there was a Volume 2 available! Great!
