About this course
Hi, I'm Brad Carlton and welcome to the second volume of Guitar Lab: Funk Guitar Studies. This course continues with our exploration of how to create funk guitar parts. You'll learn specific guitar parts that are isolated in the jam tracks, and will also be provided with an opportunity to create your own parts utilizing the theory and playing examples that are presented throughout this course.
All the principles presented in these lessons will serve you both in rhythm guitar and lead guitar. You'll be presented with the blues/funk tonal spectrum which will allow you to move from a sweet sound to a heavy blues sound in your note selection. Special emphasis will be placed on visualizing the scale degrees of chord forms on the fingerboard which will then allow you to access neighbor tones.

Scale Options Pt 1
This lesson will aid you in visualizing the E Mixoydian mode across the fingerboard. This will benefit you when playing over a dominant seventh chord as it will allow you access to the three extensions that exist beyond the root, third, fifth, and flat seventh of the prevailing harmony.
Scale Options Pt 2
The Dorian mode is also a valid scale choice over a dominant seventh harmony. This lesson will explain this in terms of a tonal spectrum.
Scale Options Pt 3
The minor pentatonic scale and the blues scale will be the source for your guitar parts in this lesson. In addition a single note lines, you will learn how to construct horn style parts which involve multiple voices.
Gm Funk Track
You'll be encouraged to develop your own parts over this G minor funk track utilizing the information from the previous lessons.
KT Strut Track
I'll demonstrate the exact voicings that are used for guitar 1 over this track. Then, I will demonstrate the part for guitar 2.
P Dubs Funk Pt 1
Our final funk jam track has three guitar parts occurring in Section A, and two guitar parts in Section B.

Like all the studies from brad carlton this is well covered and you get real good knowledge to understand the music an can make your own. He Dont teach you licks but learn you how to creatie your own kicks.
