Kid Andersen

Chris “Kid” Andersen was born in Telemark, Norway in 1980. A blues fan since childhood, Andersen fell in love with the music of Otis Rush, Buddy Guy, Junior Watson, and the Kings (B.B., Albert and Freddie). By the time he was 18, he was backing all the American blues stars who came through Norway, including Homesick James, Nappy Brown and Willie “Big Eyes” Smith. He moved to California at age 21, eventually earning himself a green card as an “Alien of Extraordinary Ability.”

Andersen released four solo albums before joining blues harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite’s band in 2004, a gig that lasted until he joined Rick Estrin & The Nightcats. Kid Andersen is known as the guitarist for Rick Estrin & The Nightcats with 3 BMA Nominations for Guitarist of the Year. The virtuoso also is the man behind Greaseland Studios, THE hub for authentic Blues Music in the Bay Area. Kid is bringing some of his favorite collaborators to Biscuits and Blues.

Chris Andersen has a style in the Blues that undoubtedly makes him distinguishable. His knowledge of the genre is fully demonstrated in his guitar playing. The expression in each of his compositions has a feeling that is hard to replicate and has the influence of iconic guitarists such as B.B. King and Albert King. His handling of scales and the technique he employs is reflected in the lessons, where you can learn a diverse amount of concepts that can be very useful, plus Kid is an amazing educator and overall can help you increase your level.

Amazing

To make good use of my quarantine, I decided to be productive and learn guitar. I found Truefire and their YouTube channel extremely helpful with their lessons and tutors being so helpful, clear, articulate and easy to follow. I eventually showed progress and learnt to incorporate new concepts, rhythms, grooves in my own playin. Looking forward for more lessons in the future.

Bluesman!

Wow, totally impressed with the lessons on blues, jazz, incorporating different techniques and most importantly precise information in the videos. In blues what matters is the approach and that's where this tutor just shines and makes you feel more confident with your Playing. As people say that blues is easy to play but tough to feel and according to me it's tougher teach! Waiting for more lessons!
