James Hogan About the Educator

James Hogan is known by many as a world class guitarist. He's an artist who is regarded highly by his peers and is in constant demand as a touring sideman, studio musician and producer. Hogan is admired world wide for his musicality, his soulfulness and his rare ability to play authentically in virtually any style of music.

In addition to a successful music career, James is also a fine music teacher. James Hogan was a senior instructor at The National Guitar Workshop's Florida, Connecticut, Nashville, Virginia and SUNY Purchase campuses from 1998-2012. Hogan is currently the guitar instructor at Florida State College in Jacksonville, FL where he has been on staff since 2001. James holds a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Performance (Summa Cum Laude) from the highly acclaimed University Of North Florida jazz program, where he was a collegiate Downbeat Award winner, and student of jazz guitar virtuoso Barry Greene. James Hogan is also an Adjunct Music Professor at UNF and a "Master Mentor" at the Crown Guitar Festival in Montana.
