Lindsay Ell

Lindsay Ell's musical journey began early, with piano lessons at age six, but her father’s collection of guitars captured her heart by age eight. Her passion for the instrument grew during her teenage years, leading her to a unique path—touring with blues legend Buddy Guy at just 18 and honing her skills in bars across Canada and the U.S.

Ell's guitar work is foundational to her musical identity, characterized by precision, passion, and innovation. Influenced by legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton, her playing style combines the emotive force of blues with the storytelling finesse of country music, making her a standout performer in any lineup.

Lindsay’s dedication to music extends into education, where she acts as a mentor and innovator. Her work resonates not only through the notes she plays or the words she sings but also through the lessons she imparts and the lives she touches. Lindsay Ell is shaping the genre's future, bridging traditional sounds with contemporary insights and nurturing the next generation of musicians.

With every song, performance, and lesson, Lindsay Ell redefines what it means to be a musician today—a true maestro of melody and mentorship in an ever-evolving musical landscape. Her ability to excel as a singer, songwriter, and guitarist, coupled with her commitment to education, sets her apart in the music industry.

The how to solo has really opened my eyes to how chords, scales and notes can quickly be used on the fretboard. That is quickly when I learn them. Takes a little while. She is great!

Great for an intermediate and above guitarist

every so often, I run into somebody I can learn from in a novel way. Lindsay is one of these people! Her approach to learning notes on the fret board, especially up the fret board, has helped me dramatically. Also, her approach to applying pentatonic scales that we all know in love to chord progressions is great. Thank you, Lindsay!

Excellent exercises Lindsay

I have been teaching full time for 12 years after retiring from the Army. One of the first things I tell students is to know what note and interval you are playing. An exercise I use is to have them find every c note, d note, etc. and I make it a race for them to do it faster and faster. I really like your idea of doing a key scale across the fingerboard. I hope that you will do more courses on Truefire.

Great course

Very happy, with Lindsay's course this critique is. Where was this course 20 years ago? I hope that other beginners get to learn this method it will help. I would like to have a course that gives me how to easy read the cords/positions on the guitar neck. I have absolute confidence that when finished I will have expanded my ability to play more positions on the neck
