Kai Eckhardt

Kai Eckhardt is a Liberian/German bassist and composer best known for his contribution to the John Mclaughlin Trio in the 80's, Billy Cobham's International Quartet in the 90's and the band Garaj Mahal in the new Millennium. Kai has also recorded and performed with Trilok Gurtu, Stanley Clarke, Wayne Shorter, Patrice Rushen, Dewey Redman, George Brooks, Donald Byrd, Bela Fleck, Maria Joao, Dino Saluzzi, Sertab Erener, Palle Mikkelborg, Victor Wooten, Alphonse Mouzon, Aziza Mustafa Zadeh, Michael Franti, Larry Coryell, Warren Hill, Al Di Meola, Zakir Hussain, Steve Smith, John Scofield , Bill Frisell, George Benson, and Mike Stern.

Besides being an active performer, Kai is a passionate and experienced music educator who teaches privately and online while being a faculty member of the Jazz School Institute in Berkeley, CA. He has taught clinics and master classes world-wide with engagements ranging from Berklee School of Music in Boston, the Bass Collective in New York, the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, the Anton Bruckner Conservatory in Austria, Amsterdam Conservatory in the Netherlands and Victor Wooten's Bass and Nature camp.

Game Changer Course in Bass Instruction

I think this course is my Rosetta Stone of Bass. I am stopping all other practice to immerse myself in this course. This is giving me everything I ever wanted to learn about intervals and more. The technique tips you get here are worth this course alone. Thank you, Mr. Eckhart!

Ruhig freundlich kompetent

Kai erklärt alles in einer so ruhigen und freundlichen Art das ich mich nie überfordert oder unter Druck gesetzt fühlte. Kompetent, sachlich vermittelt er das Material Schritt für Schritt, dass man beinahe den Eindruck hat ihm in Person gegenüber zu sitzen. Bisher habe ich das Time Continuum Paket erworben und einige Lerneinheiten 'durchgearbeitet'. Das Reactive Intervals werde ich mir jedoch ebenfalls ansehen. Ich würde mich auch freuen wenn es von Kai noch weitere Pakete geben würde. Und ganz nebenbei, auch als nicht Muttersprachler konnte ich ihm problemlos folgen.

Komplete Kai

This guys has the knowledge and the power yo turn your bass playing good enough to be a gigging bass player. His chromatic scales course it's wonderful and utterly amazing. I do highly recommend for those wants spreading the word, with a rich musical vocabulary. The exercises will make you feel better and comfortable, to play with ease, speed and and confidence through the bass neck.

I am about halfway through Kai's excellent Reactive Intervals course and I love it. His presence is one of the reasons it's such a great course. He is very charismatic and you can tell he's having a lot of fun teaching the course. He has made me smile or chuckle on several occasions, and I can't say that about too many other recorded instructors. I would recommend any course he teaches.
