Ben Lacy has performed in venues across North America and Europe, playing with and opening for such musical greats as Al DiMeola, Larry Coryell, George Duke, Dominic Miller, Joey DeFrancesco, Phil Keaggy, Frank Gambale and Tommy Emmanuel.
Lacy worked sessions with Scotty Anderson for a 9/11 tribute, and has also played in tribute shows for Chet Atkins and Les Paul. In July 2003, Ben had the honor of performing and then handing Les Paul his lifetime achievement award at Muriel Anderson's All Star Guitar Night at the historic Ryman Auditorium.
Guitar Player Magazine named Ben as one of the Top 100 Unsung Guitar Heroes. A feature article on Ben in 20th Century Guitar also gave his playing a rave review. Ben's 2003 CD "One Track Mind" attracted very favorable reviews as well.
Billboard's Ann Wickstrom of All Music Guide comments: "Lacy's technique is so mind-boggling it really needs to be seen to be believed. He is a one-man band, providing his own bass and percussive parts while simultaneously laying down rhythmic chords and melodies."
Ben's latest recording "Pocket Deuce" is a collaboration with his good friend Jay Roberts, a combination of jazz and pop standards for two guitars. Ben also performs "HeyNineteen" on the CD "Maestros of Cool- a Tribute to Steely Dan". In November 2016, Ben Lacy and Jay Roberts opened for Steve Vai on his Passion and Warfare 25th Anniversary Tour in Nashville at Marathon Music Works, and in Knoxville at The Bijou Theatre.
Been Lacy's style is just fun to get into ! I actually applied ides from his Two-Hand Groove Guitar in a RnB, Funk, Latin Jazz and Blues jam setting with Congo Kat's etc... What I got out of his course was the guitar is an emulator instrument and that it is capable of it more then just various horn sounds. I would say get this and find where the pocket is in a band setting or just be the band ! And the Kat's I play will tell you to stop if you're not making music ! Peace !
