Barre Chords Practice Plan (JamPlay)

About this course

Dave Isaacs’ Barre Chords Practice Plan is a month-long, hands-on journey designed to help you finally overcome one of the most notorious hurdles in guitar playing. Each day brings a focused exercise—ranging from foundational knuckle-flexing drills and scale runs to building full and partial barre shapes—accompanied by clear, on-screen instruction and dynamic backing tracks that keep your practice both structured and musical. Along the way, Dave shares the mental strategies and success principles that separate those who give up from those who persevere, illustrated by inspiring stories from fellow students who have conquered their own barre-chord frustrations.

From the very first lesson, you’ll activate all four fingers and develop the strength needed for clean, pain-free barre holds. You’ll tackle C, F, G, B minor and B major shapes in sequence, then explore advanced forms such as six-note barres, triads, sliding chords, and mixed partial/full barres to expand your sonic palette. Supplementary scale exercises in keys like G major and E minor sharpen your fretboard fluency, while carefully designed troubleshooting segments solve common placement problems and build the stamina you need to sustain chords through entire songs.

This course is perfect for beginner-to-intermediate guitarists who can switch open chords but feel stuck when the neck stretches out. Whether you’ve struggled to lock down a full F chord or simply want the confidence to play in any key, Dave’s systematic, day-by-day plan removes guesswork and replaces frustration with measurable progress. By the end of four weeks, barre chords will no longer be a mystery or a source of tension—they’ll become another flexible tool in your playing arsenal.

“I never thought I’d nail a full F chord until this plan. Dave’s daily drills changed my playing in weeks,” reflects one TrueFire student, and you’ll feel the same transformation as you move through each exercise. Sign up today and give your left hand the training it deserves—one day, one chord, one breakthrough at a time.

Barre Chord Practice Plan Strikes All the Right Chords

I was looking for a course that would focus on using barre chords, and Dave Isaacs' Barre Chord Practice Plan looked like it would fit the bill and man did it ever. The course not only met my expectations, it exceeded them. I found Dave's explanation of and approach to building the new chord shapes and the use of partial bar chords all along the fret board exceptionally helpful. Dave's course has increased my understanding and appreciation of barre chords tremendously to the point that I now look for opportunities to use them in my playing.

This Course Really Works

I went from not being able to form a barre chord to save my life to being able to play 5- and 6-note, major and minor barre chords. TBH, I'm still kind of shocked. The course is incremental and you build up finger independence and precision through carefully planned exercises. Dave is also a great instructor, very precise with lots of good tips and suggestions for overcoming common pitfalls. Highly recommended.
