Guitar Lab: Ear Training Vol. 6

About this course

This course will give you a systematic approach for developing your ear and also for knowing where a pitch is located on the fretboard. You'll be presented with principles including intervals, bass notes, and diatonic triads. Each of these topics will apply to a question and answer format where you'll be presented with a pitch or chord, and will then be asked to find it on the sixth string. I'll then give you the correct answer along with any pertinent information about the process involved in finding that pitch or chord.

This volume of Guitar Lab: Ear Training will focus on moving lines within chord structures. There will be two categories: ascending and descending lines. These lines may be diatonic or chromatic and may occur as any voice within the harmony. This course will equip you with many common harmonic and melodic moves which will help you instantly know what is going on in music. You will also possess a large inventory of moves that will serve you in composition and improvisation.

Grab your guitar and let's get started.

What you'll learn

  • Execute one half hyper extension bar technique for chord voicings
  • Master the chromatic scale as an interval reference tool
  • Apply crossbar technique on adjacent strings for complex voicings
  • Convert major scales to jazz melodic minor by flatting the 3rd
  • Understand how to create smooth voice-led bass lines using 8-7-6 patterns

TF Guitar Lab: Ear Training V6

I respect Brad Carlton's ability to teach greatly. I had an opportunity to grab this (Vol 6) and the others and went for it. Although, I have the more Volumes to complete prior to this one, I'm looking forward to sharpening my skills.

A great series

I opted for this ear training series as its focus is on the guitar and not on the piano as many ear training courses on the web are.I`ve also tried many an app but most are very sterile and again, are not really helpful, as I play the guitar and not a keyboard.Mr Carltons no- nonsense approach appeals to me and the course is well structured as it is delivered. This course will give you a well rounded approach for developing your ear and fretboard location.
