Watch the Working Within Borders online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Lick Logic
You've probably noticed a pattern by now. I take small areas of a scale and develop the idea from within the small section of the scale I started in. I think in general we a have a tendency to throw away a lot of great ideas because we get distracted or bored, and what would be a better approach is to explore the commonalities found in one area and then move on to a fresh sound later on. In this section, we'll be targeting each scale tone in sequence to give us fresh ideas each time. Once you've mastered that approach, try to change each start note randomly within the string group.
