Watch the Bends online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Lick Logic

Bending the strings allows us to raise the pitch of the original note without changing fret position. A variety of raised pitches can be achieved: Micro bends used in blues, which basically imply another pitch but don't necessarily reach it, half-tone bends that raise the pitch one fret or a semitone, whole tone bends take the pitch 2 frets higher, and the mighty minor 3rd bend which takes the pitch one and half tones higher. Some guitarists can even reach a major 3rd, but that's not for the faint of heart.
