Watch the Scale Fragments online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from Lick Logic

Scales present us with a lot of note choices all at once and lots of guys are overwhelmed by those choices. I've always tried to focus on small areas of a scale to find licks and simple melodies I like from each of the patterns. Obviously we can't examine every scale shape in this course, but I can guide you through a few solid approaches for developing phrases and helping you to focus within areas of the guitar you are comfortable with.

My favorite string on the guitar is the B string. It's easy to bend, sounds great, and offers the lowest tension of all the strings. If any of you have studied my courses and playing, you'll notice I use that string a lot. You may favor the G string and find that you are weaving lines around the middle of the guitar. This could become a signature sound and approach for you. We'll take a look at a couple of scale forms each scale denotes here so that you can see how to develop ideas from a couple of structures.
