Watch the A minor Jam Rhythm Guitar online guitar lesson by Frank Vignola from Vamps, Jams and Improv

This is a very cool A minor vamp. With this track we explore the clave rhythm. We will go over 4 variations of the clave rhythm, which is an important element of music because it was one of the first rhythms used in American music of the 20th century.
The New Orleans street band beat was derived from the clave rhythm. Again, it's a very important rhythm that I strongly encourage you to internalize. Most instrumentalists, other than drummers, don't take the time to learn more about rhythm, which is a third of what music is made up of. Melody, Harmony and Rhythm are the three key elements of music and all three need to be addressed in our playing. We'll also use single note ideas based on the clave rhythm to make rhythm guitar parts. In the manuscript you'll find some different inversions for the A minor chord.
