Watch the Quads & Triplets Play-along online guitar lesson by Ben Lacy from Two-Hand Groove Guitar
In this play-along I mix up quads and triplets, with 1 quad and 4 triplets. It's a bit up-tempo, so be ready.
I am talking about GROUPING 16th-notes into groups of 4 and 3, so they are all equal in length. The "triplets" are groups of 3, NOT 3-to-a-beat triplets.
It might feel a bit odd but it's just another interesting way to feel 4/4. We take the 16 16th-notes of 4/4 but divide them into 4+3+3+3+3.
It still adds up to 4/4 - trust me! Better yet, listen to the metronome for the beat and try it yourself.
