Watch the Aeolian Application online guitar lesson by Bruce Arnold from Total Modal
Aeolian is now the 3rd mode we have learned the works over a minor chord. Aeolian is also a mode that is very commonly used over a minor chord. The C Dorian, Phrygian and Aeolian mode all contain a C minor pentatonic mode, (C,Eb,F,G,Bb) experiment with going back and forth with both modes when improvising with the Aeolian mode.
The Aeolian mode has one avoid note: the b6. Listen for how this note wants to resolve when you play it. The Aeolian mode can also be used over a 7sus4 chord. When you do this there are no avoid notes.
