Watch the Stay All Night: Strum 2 online guitar lesson by Marcy Marxer from Swingin' Rhythm Handbook

The second strum for Stay All Night gives us a chance to bounce along at a dance tempo. Remember to play with a strong right hand for plenty of drive. Remember, you can always tone it down for taste later.

Once you get comfortable at this tempo try digging in a little harder with the strum. Find the place where more power brings less tone. The only expressions I've ever heard for it is "crap out" or "over driving the top". Whatever you call it, you'll start to notice that you get less real sound out of your guitar. This applies to both acoustic and electric guitars.
