Watch the Tom Dooley online guitar lesson by Marcy Marxer from Swingin' Rhythm Handbook

When you're playing songs with any new chords you need to give yourself a chance to get used to the way they feel. You can play uptempo songs slowed down or play songs that sound good played slow. Play songs you like.

The old folk song Tom Dooley is meant to be played slower than most swing songs. The Kingston Trio recorded a brisk version of Tom Dooley that works well with these chords.

Try G6 and D7 in any other two-chord songs you like. Check the PDF list included in this lesson for ideas or play them all.

Try changing keys by moving the chords to new positions.
