Watch the Melody: Scale Options online guitar lesson by Matthieu Brandt from Songwriting on Guitar
Composers using their guitar as a tool often use a chord groove to start a new song with. Once you have a good progression going, you're ready for the next step: the melody. Finding the pool of notes to fish your melody from is a good next step. Once you have those notes, you're able to create smooth melodies through your progression and find the exeptions. Harmony and melody will interact and create the feel for a song / song section. In this chapter we'll discuss ways of finding your pool of notes.
