Watch the Octaves: 5 online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from SoloCraft

Use your ear and knowledge of the fretboard to make sure your octave lines resolve to sweet notes. Over our E minor 7 (9) chord progression the notes E, G, B, D and F#, if you choose the 9th, are all sweet notes (chord tones). Mixing in some lick ideas from the E minor scale or E minor pentatonic scale will add some interest to this approach and keep the octave lines sounding fresh and expressive. Experiment and have fun with it. Of course we have tabbed and notated some licks from these performances for you to learn.
