Watch the Classic Sixths: 4 online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from SoloCraft
The progression we are playing over is an R&B style groove which consists of an A7 and D7 chords. I am deriving my double-stop sixths from the chord shapes I am using in this progression. An A7 barre chord at the 5th fret contains two sixth double-stops. Take a look at the diagrams provided and watch the video to see that under my fingers. Once you understand this and can see the two note shapes from within your chords you will be able to transpose these ideas into different keys when you are using this technique in other situations. I am concentrating my classic sixths shapes on the top four strings as they sound best used in this range on the guitar. Let's go to the playalong exercise and start using this wonderfully musical technique.
