Watch the Open G Tuning online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slide Guitar Power

In order to tune your guitar to an open G tuning, the D, G and B strings are tuned normally, but the sixth and first strings are tuned down one whole step from E to D. All of the scale patterns and chord voicings for open G are the same as those for open A. Also, you will hear John Lee Hooker and Robert Johnson incorporate the use of a capo with the open G tuning on many of their classic recordings.
