Watch the SECTION 5: Open G Tuning online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slide Guitar Power

Open G tuning is identical to open A, but all of the strings are sounded one whole step lower. You will hear the open G tuning in the recordings of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, and especially Keith Richards, who has used an open G tuning to write so many Stones classics, such as "Honky Tonk Women," "Brown Sugar," "Start Me Up" and many, many others. Rolling Stone Mick Taylor also used this tuning for some of his classic slide solos with the Stones.
