Watch the Robert Johnson Style: Open E online guitar lesson by Andy Aledort from Slide Guitar Power

This solo, based around the infamous "Sweet Home Chicago" melody, remains rooted in 12th position throughout, performing the melodic lines by moving the slide back and forth on the top four strings between the 10th and 12th frets. This example is a bit more uptempo than Robert's original, and it is also played on electric versus acoustic guitar, so the feel is more Chicago than Delta blues. Fingerpicking is used exclusively throughout, and work through every phrase very slowly and carefully, memorizing the shape of each and every phrase, and how these phrases fit together.
