Watch the Country: Technique 1 online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from RhythmCraft

I'm using my capo at the 3rd fret and playing chord shapes you'll recognize as shapes from the key of E. The capo is raising the pitch of those shapes by three semi-tones, so the actual pitch and key that I'm playing is G. The reason I've done this is that G is a great country key but I wanted to show you some cool country style picking ideas that you could learn with relative ease and I wanted to separate sonically this guitar part from the acoustic guitar part I'm going to play using open chords.

The right hand picking is quite complex so really study the chord chart, notation and tab to nail that. The left hand fingerings for the most part are quite easy to finger, it's the the licks and quick changes that might present some challenges for you. The backing track moves at quite a pace, so my suggestion would be to practice each of the tricky chord passages at a much slower tempo with a metronome if you have one. Once you can articulate each chord change cleanly bring them up to speed slowly until you reach the tempo of our track.

Remember, speed is a byproduct of accuracy!
