Watch the The Pocket online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from The Rhythm Architect

This 8 bar blues progression probably sounds really easy to you at first but let's take a quick look at the complexities you may not be aware of.

You'll notice I use the G7, G#7 chromatically to lead up to the A7 and in bar 4 I throw in a Bb13 chord on the last beat as a chord sub for the E9. Nice!

Bar 8 is our turnaround section which consists of four chords, A/C# -Cdim7-Bmi7-Bb13 each getting the value of one beat each. This could be tricky for you if you are not familiar with these chord voicings. Watch the video closely to get the fingerings down and how I play the rhythmic structure with my right hand.
