Watch the Scotch 'n Soda online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from The Rhythm Architect
Each of the three guitar parts that I've played on this R&B groove are strong enough to stand on their own or lock together to work as an ensemble. The cool thing is, as I've mentioned before, adding a new part can often change the musical direction of the whole piece.
Guitar part 3 is a very strong part using major triads on the top four strings. Playing this guitar part on its own with the groove gives the rhythm section the feeling of a calypso or reggae feel and more of a driving R&B vibe when added to the other guitar lines. It's this kind of stuff that really excites me about Rhythm Architecture!
