Watch the The Train online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from The Rhythm Architect

I begin building our groove by creating a great complementary guitar part using chords voiced an octave above our original. The wonderful thing about separating the voicings by an octave is the depth of sound that results, not to mention the subtle variations in phrasing and the hammers and pull offs that often occur when using new chord shapes.

Watch the videos and listen to the parts and how I played them carefully, you'll hear exactly what I mean by this.
