Watch the Smoking Jacket online guitar lesson by Robbie Calvo from The Rhythm Architect

So I'm guessing that if you've nailed the chords now you are feeling pretty good about yourself and you should, they aren't easy unless you are a jazz guitarist!

Right then, let's step on the gas and put a nice Latin rhythmic figure under these chords! First thing you'll notice is that I am using my thumb and fingers to articulate this rhythm. The thumb is a key element here as it is driving the pulse of the bass line, which as you know by now is stepping down chromatically from B to the final F#.

My advice to getting this rhythm down would be to isolate the rhythmic pattern, which you can learn directly from the notation or by watching the videos and just apply that rhythm to one of the chords, or even a muted set of strings. In fact playing the muted strings against the bass and drum track provided would be an excellent idea for practicing this.

Good luck and I'll see you in the next video if you haven't lost your mind by then!
